I Don’t Want to Work Until I Die. I Want to Enjoy the In-Between.

Owning businesses while working part time for someone else is not for the faint of heart.

I have always enjoyed the hustle. From raising five children—six for a while—to opening my own businesses, staying busy has always been part of my life. There was always someone who needed something, a bill to pay, or an idea I wanted to bring to life.

We used to joke with my uncle and say, “If you ever stop working, you’ll die.”

Well, here’s what I do know: I don’t want to work until I die.

I want to enjoy the in-between.

I want to enjoy my family. I want time with my husband that doesn’t involve answering an email, returning a call, or saying, “Just let me finish this one thing.”

Because lately, I feel like all I do is work.

I take a vacation, and I work.
I go to the doctor, and I work.
I go to work, and, well… I work.

Even when I’m sitting still, my mind is running through everything I need to do. And as much as I love what I do, I am tired of feeling like every moment has to be productive.

Some moments need to belong to the people I love. Some need to belong to me.

My goal for 2026–2027 is to become debt-free. I have been praying about it and working to put myself in a position to reach that goal. That means making changes and being willing to take a step that might look a little crazy.

And our next step? It might qualify. 🤣

We are selling our home and turning a church into our new home.

Now, before you picture a little white church with a steeple, let me explain. This is a modern, barndominium-style church. We see an opportunity to make it our own, and we are excited about what it could become.

Will it take work? Absolutely. The irony of taking on a renovation while talking about working less is not lost on me. But our hope is that the work we put in now will help us move toward the life we want—one with less financial pressure and more room to enjoy our time together.

I’m sure there will be moments when we look at each other and ask, “What have we gotten ourselves into?” There will be decisions to make, things to learn, and probably a few changes of plans along the way.

As we go through this journey, I’ll share it here and on our YouTube channel: the progress, the challenges, and the excitement of watching this space become our home.

We believe God has blessed us with this opportunity, and we want to make the best of it.

I will probably always have a little hustle in me. I enjoy creating, building, and seeing an idea come to life. But I also want to be able to put the work down and enjoy what is right in front of me.

I’ve spent years figuring out how to get more done.

Now, I’m praying and working toward having more time to live.
